In 1795 the king ordered to the architect Juan Pedro Arnal the construction of a new post office, as a complementary building of the Real Casa del Correo.
The new Casa de Postas, built in neoclassical style between 1795 and 1800 was raised on an irregular plan, with five sides, centred around a courtyard with only two floors. This building is today the seat of the Presidency of Madrid Autonomous community.
